United Rentals HR Generalist in Austin, Texas


As a Human Resource Generalst at United Rentals, you will provide overall HR support to Director, Human Resources and Regional VP, including the implementation of new HR initiatives to positively impact business results. Responsible for ensuring that Branch Managers adhere to URI policies and procedures and comply with all HR guidelines; research policies for HRM as needed.

Assist HRD in routine Region Human Resource processes including:

  • Implementing union avoidance strategy

  • Administering year end merit increases/bonuses

  • Resolution of employee relations issues, administering disciplinary process as needed

Assist with delivery of Region training programs as needed regarding:

  • Policies and procedures, management development, harassment, etc...

  • Education of new Managers on HR processes and programs

Assist branches with administrative issues including:

  • Routine MSS processing

  • Employment contracts & offer letters

  • Resolution of branch payroll and benefit issues

  • Organize regional benefit events

  • Assist with Recruiting Strategy; including arranging the relationship logistics p for college recruiting, job fairs, and specialized recruiting needs.



To be successful in this position, the following requirements are desired.

  • BA/BS in Human Resources or related field

  • PHR or SPHR certificate preferred

  • Minimum 3-5 years experience in HR as a generalist in a multi-site, multi-state environment with emphasis on employee relations.

  • Knowledge of HR laws and requirements (EEO, FLSA, FMLA, and other local, state and federal laws.

  • Experience in Labor Relations as well as union avoidance.

  • Experience in facilitating training programs

  • Valid drivers license with an acceptable driving record
