United Rentals Region Operations Manager - Reliable On Site - Portable Restroom Division in Charlotte, North Carolina

The Region Operations Manager-ROS-is dedicated to the succesful execution of ROS Region new locations, via cold starts and acquisitions with a primary focus on operations execution and integration in suport of all Region growth initiatives. The ROM will oversee and work closely with Region, District and branch staff at all levels to ensure consistent implementation of the cold start and/or acquisition integration playbook and checklist, ensuring that all new locations adopt a consistent operating methodology and transition smoothly to UR systems, practices and operating processes and procedures. The ROM will work across across multiple functional areas, and collaborate with IT, HR, Finance, Shared Services, corporate Operations excellence, Payroll, corporate business development, and other departments to ensure strategic and tactical operational integration goals are met. May be assigned special operational projects or initiatives for the Region, as needed.

Cold Start Operations Integration/Execution:

  • Working collaboratively with DM, BM, and employees, introduce and implement cold start playbook, checklist items, and Company operational processes; Remain onsite at location pre-opening and post opening to ensure successful operational launch and integration to Company;

  • Assist in ordering assets, handhelds, vehicles, computers, and other resources to ensure tools in place to conduct operations; act as liason with various corporate departments to ensure timely fulfillment;

  • Introduce and train UR systems, working with other superusers, to all employees such as Rentalman and FAST, and others, ensuring smooth rollout, training, and adoption, including customization and troubleshooting, as required. Assist as needed in Payroll, Concur, Sumtotal, Tax, Collections, Cash App, and other systems integration efforts, leveraging technical resoources from various Company departments.

  • Act as liase to Corporate Risk and Safety, and HR/Benefits;

  • Introduce 5S and its principles,when appropriate

Acquisitions Operations Integration/Execution:

  • Introduce UR systems, working with other superusers, to all employees such as Rentalman and FAST, Catalyst, and others, ensuring smooth rollout, training, and adoption, including customization and troubleshooting, as required. Assist as needed in Payroll, Concur, Sumtotal, Tax, Collections, Cash App, and other systems integration efforts, leveraging technical resources from various Company departments. Ensure all employees receive timely systems access aligned with permissions.

  • Act as liase to Corporate Risk and Safety, and HR/Benefits and establish SPOC with corporate functions to assist through integration.

Post Cold Start/Acquisition: Operational Management and Excellence:

  • Promotes continuous improvement initiatives in the region by managing special projects that enhance overall customer service, process flow and customer retention.

  • Supports Region and Company practices in operational management.

  • Partners with the DM to gain understanding of the financial statements, P/L, SOO terms and performance metrics, including levers to drive profitable revenue performance, ROCA, ROIC, and other success measures.

  • Introduce 5S and its principles,when appropriate

  • Assist/coordinate Branch operation audits, working with Audit department.

  • Catalyst training.

  • Participates in the 5S certification process, Kaizen events and promote operational improvement initiatives in the region; Work on special projects to drive operational efficiencies;

  • Educate a BM in running branch operations, such as BCC, audit process, and daily responsibilities;

  • May assist a DM or BM in efforts to increase overall profitability by controlling costs and improving efficiencies. Encourages equipment sharing and proper equipment maintenance.

  • Actively participates in and delivers presentations on projects and initiatives at regional and/or district level Monthly and quarterly Operating reviews, and other meetings.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in business, economics, marketing or related field is required.

  • 5-7 years of operational management experience, with strong P/L and business acumen, and a minimum of 2 years supervisory or leadership experience.

  • Extensive FAST, Rentalman, superuser expertise, with deep knowledge of Company systems across many functions, including Catalyst, ePro, Concur, etc.

  • Familiar with UR corporate departments, across field support and corporate functions.

  • Ability to train others on systems and operational processes

  • Excellent verbal and written communicator, ability to develop and sustain relationships at all levels of the organization.

  • Must be motivated to grow their career;

  • Must be able to build effective teams, manage, develop and motivate others and drive for results.

  • Must be customer focused.

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and time management skills

  • Strong computer and software skills, including Excel

  • Travel up to 80% based on cold starts, acquisition, and other Region growth activities requiring operations integration and execution;

  • Wear steel toed shoes and other required personal protective equipment

  • Exposure to branch environment, occasionally lifting up to 40lbs.
