United Rentals Pricing Manager in Scottsdale, Arizona

Description:

The Pricing Manager will serve as a key member of the United Rentals Pricing Team, working to maximize profitability by identifying pricing opportunities and employing effective pricing strategies. This individual will lead a team of pricing analysts in developing and implementing complex business plans with a focus on price optimization. The Pricing Manager will perform analysis on customer, market, industry, and product data to improve decision making and to aid in the development of action plans. The Pricing Manager will partner with the regional and national sales teams in development, analysis, and implementation of pricing strategies.

In conjunction with the Director of Pricing the Pricing Manager will lead a team of analysts in the following areas:

Work with local market teams to develop and maintain a strong understanding of market factors contributing to market pricing performance.

  • Conduct periodic business reviews with district/regional teams.

  • Develop project plans, conduct necessary research, and lead analysis of operating, customer, and financial data.

  • Develop a pricing strategy in support of go to market strategy.

Utilize pricing optimization engine to develop and issue pricing guidance.

  • Incorporate market factors and work within the pricing system to generate a pricing recommendation.

  • Communicate pricing recommendation to go to market teams.

Develop, interpret, and distribute in market reporting highlighting rate acceptance and price compliance.

  • Collaboratively work with other members of the pricing team to establish and maintain standardized reporting.

  • Interpret reporting and highlight specific areas of opportunity.

  • Distribute insights to local market teams.

Evaluate contractual pricing agreements and provide analysis and insight to local market teams.

  • Assist sales teams in the creation of contractual pricing proposals.

  • Perform customer analysis to identify opportunities

  • Evaluate multi-dimensional proposals for financial feasibility.

Monitors and analyzes performance across the company

  • Analyzes equipment utilization, customer profile data, competitive market information, impact of rate changes and overall rate profitability.

  • Provides qualitative, quantitative, and statistical analysis of pricing performance and makes recommendations based on analysis. Analysis is done on a variety of levels including: customer, cat class, location, and employee.

  • Provides ad-hoc pricing analysis and recommendation in support of field and corporate management.

  • Analyzes rate exceptions and identifies risks and opportunities.

Develop, institutionalize, communicate and train on pricing policies and tools.

  • Contribute to the process of continuous improvement and innovation of pricing tools and process.

  • Lead rollout and training process of new pricing tools and processes.

  • Continue and further develop robust pricing training curriculum throughout the organization

Direct, develop and mentor staff:

  • Provide direction to staff to increase their ability to positively impact the business and achieve desired results.

  • Ensure staff has exposure to sales process and market conditions through field visits and other opportunities.

  • Initiate career development and training plans to ensure succession of financial leaders.

  • Establish goals and assess performance in a timely manner.

Requirements:

Education: Bachelor's degree required in Business, Finance or Accounting preferred

MBA preferred.

Experience: Five to Seven years of accounting, finance or operations experience, preferably in a large decentralized sales-based organization.
