United Rentals Lead, Analyst Data & Analytics in Stamford, Connecticut

As a Lead, Analyst Data & Analytics at United Rentals, you will be the main point of contact for a department’s data and analytical (D&A) needs. You’ll work with business units to prioritize and manage their D&A program. You’ll also work with development teams to enhance data and analytical systems and uses defined techniques to scale and support data and analytical systems. You will manage work process, roadmap and user experience of data and analytical systems. Create data and analytical training material and train the organization on data & analytical techniques.

Location : This role can be based out of our Stamford, CT or Scottsdale, AZ corporate office however role is remote to start.

Additional duties include the following:

  • Primary point of contact for a broad range of enterprise Data & Analytics questions for specific corporate departments and process areas

  • Help project teams explore and test data to ensure it supports their stated goals

  • Work with Business and IT leads to identify risks and issues, uses expertise to determine root cause

  • Analyze risks and issues, provide comprehensive response that includes tactical plan to resolve issues or mitigate risks

  • Identify, onboard and mentor high potential department analyst on Data & Analytics platform and Data & Analytics SOPs

  • Manage multiple programs and all associated projects within those programs

  • Works with Business Leads to gather requirements, manage scoping and when needed break projects into phases providing guidance on short term and long term feasibility

  • Create project schedules and cost estimates, coordinates meetings with cross functional Business and IT Leads to update/verify schedules/estimates

  • Automate and support rapid development of functional prototypes and/or create repeatable processes that fulfill short-term business data needs

  • Write business and technical requirements needed to migrate piloted prototypes to production systems and manages the process

  • Work with cross functional stakeholders to create and maintain strategic roadmap for a number of assigned system

  • Develop and govern Standard Operating Procedures of assigned systems

  • Work with Department Heads coordinating individual and group training events

  • Other duties assigned as needed

Job Requirements:

  • Master's degree or equivalent experience in IT, science or business related program

  • 10+ years in system support or business analyst role

  • Ability to understand system architecture and scale complex solutions

  • Demonstrate strong project management skills, PMP certification is a plus

  • Demonstrate strong technical documentation skills; Experience with PM Tools like Plainview PPM Pro, LeanKit/ or Atlassian JIRA is a plus

  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills to interact with IT and business leads daily

  • Must have the ability to write unaided optimized SQL queries and stored procedures; Experience with Snowflake, Teradata /or MSSql /or Oracle is a plus

  • Business Intelligence system administration; experience with Tableau Server is a plus

  • Web Service and API development, REST/SOAP, JSON, PHP; Experience with Alation REST API /or Tableau Server REST API is a plus

  • Good understanding of data automation (ETL) tools and scripting techniques
