United Rentals Programmer Analyst 2 in Stamford, Connecticut
The Programmer Analyst 2 is an integral part of the technology team focused on designing, development of server side processes and maintain the data interfaces between various applications. Communicate with the other team members and vendors to being to fruition, web and mobile applications as part of the FAST team. Analyze Field Operations user specifications and requirements related to moderately complex systems applications and develop solutions that meet user needs.
Convert requirements into programming specifications using combinations of custom objects, formula fields and workflows all working together as a final completed application.
Coordinate with business users during the requirements definition process
Write supporting technical requirements and design documentation
Design and communicate dashboards/reports for Field Operations leadership as well as maintaining the feedback loop for improved reporting
Review, analyze and govern data using SQL from multiple sources using ETL and customer scripting. Document Field Operations processes, review available data elements for measurability and suggest improvements to the processes
Perform system upgrades, administration, monitoring, and maintenance
Manages on-going expansion and IT improvement processes for assigned businesses
Provides leadership and independent initiatives in facilitating and conducting information gathering structured documentation and presentation of findings
Liaises with internal customers and IT departments and follows up to completion on various programming and IT issues
Evaluates new features and functionality available in upcoming releases
Manages queue of reporting/enhancement requirements from user base
Partner with internal and external vendor Business Analysts on projects
Maintains current project notes and communicate the information to the business partner and developers
Troubleshooting system failures and data discrepancies
Partners with business to identify and resolve data discrepancies
Administers user acceptance testing for all new software developed providing final approval for project to be moved into production
Defines and executes regression test plans to assist in implementation of bug fix and upgrade releases
Support internal and external Help Desk resources with unresolved questions from application users
Responsible for accurate and detailed SDLC documentation including functional requirements, design spec, test plans and test scripts.
Tests requested functionality after development is complete
Tests interaction with other system modules for conflict and user interface
Works with business to understand workflow and gaps. Translates and documents into business and functional requirements.
Performs ongoing documentation of enhancements to applications
Identifies, researches, and resolves problems
Duplicates either the failure in the process or the code. Documents the problem and ascertains corrections to be made.
Education: Bachelor's Degree in computer science or engineering
3-5 years solid working knowledge of Scripting Languages like PHP/Python, SQL, database Technologies, ETL processes like SSIS
Good working knowledge of web applications infrastructure, application security fundamentals,
Analytically oriented with strong documentation skills
Working knowledge of web-services including accessing SOAP and Rest APIs
Strong interpersonal skills to interact with clients daily
Experienced in relational database analysis with strong data query skills
Experienced with Excel, Microsoft Access, Project, PowerPoint and Word
Ability to distill information and articulate business needs
Excellent analytical skills and the ability to engage effectively with business and technical tiers.
